COVID-19- Relief Materials Phase-1

Since many of the sanitation workers were moved from the outskirts of Trichy for the cleaning work at corporation and could not moved back to their home, they started staying in the municipal dumpyard itself and working from here for the past 10 days.

 

it is important to raise the profile of sanitation workers—just like we do with all the other health workers—and pay them their due respect, acknowledging their importance as frontline warriors. Because, just as the nation’s health workers tirelessly work to save lives, our sanitation workers have also been working in every ward to ensure that we remain safe and healthy.

To recognise these sanitation workers and to fulfill their basic needs, NURTURE has  distributed a package of provisions to nearly 100 entrapped sanitation workers at Kattur, Ponmalai and K K Nagar.

Each pack consists of the following  items:

  1. 5 Kg Rice
  2. 500g Dal
  3. 500ml cooking oil
  4. 100g Tamarind
  5. 50g Turmeric powder
  6. 250g masala powder
  7. 100g Garlic
  8. 100g red chilli
  9. 50g cumin
  10. Salt pocket
  11. Soaps
  12. Toothpaste
  13. Coconut oil
  14. Biscuits

23 contract sanitation workers (included in the list of 100 familes) who were unable to continue working in ponmalai railway workshop were also distributed the above relief materials at Ponmalai SangaThidal.

Mr A Sivananthan /GS/NURTURE, Mr Surendar / BHEL, Thozar Manimaran, Thozar Karthik and Thozar Viji distributed the relief materials to the affected sanitation workers on 14.04.2020.
